Computers for Communities donates 12 computers to Heritage Academy to help students with dyslexia and attention-deficit disorders

Ottawa, Ontario – Computers for Communities (C4C), an Ottawa-based non-profit that refurbishes computers and distributes them to those in need in exchange for community service, donated 12 computers to Heritage Academy of Learning Excellence. The computers will be delivered just in time for back to school and will help students with dyslexia and attention-deficit disorders.

“We are very grateful to receive these computers from Computers for Communities,” says Derek Rhodenizer, Vice Principal of Heritage Academy. “We will use the donated computers to set up a computer lab for the students, who will in turn enjoy the benefits of this refurbished technology while pursuing their academic studies.”

Dave Sampson, Executive Director of Computers for Communities is equally happy about the donation. “Computers for Communities is very pleased that these computers are going to help children, especially around back to school when parents, teachers and schools are all on a tight budget,” says Sampson. “We hope the computers will enrich the students’ education and allow them to explore accessible technology solutions.”

Heritage Academy is a not-for-profit school with programs designed to assist children with dyslexia and attention-deficit disorders, however, it is open to all students who seek to maximize their overall potential. The academy provides an educational environment where students Grades 1-12 are excited about learning and can discover and meet their full potential, while studying at their own rate on an enriched curriculum.
