Welcome to Computers for Communities' partnership page. This page provides a listing of all current partnerships. Some of these partnerships may be formal, adhered to through a partnership agreement and others are partnerships using an informal agreement structure. The purpose of our partnerships is to strategically allign with other groups, companies and organizations where both parties gain a mutual benefit.

Macadamian is one of our Technology partners providing a source of previously used computer hardware.

Thanks to RDLONG Computers for helping us recycle obsolete computers through the provincial e-Waste program

National Capital Freenet

National Capital Freenet (http://ncf.ca) helps us connect various populations who face barriers to accessing the internet by providing affordable dial up Internet services.

Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa

The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa provided us with a training and workshop facility between January 2010 and October 2010

Ottawa Public Library

 Ottawa Public Library Logo

The Ottawa Public library and C4C are working together to distribute up to date Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) operating systems. This will provide those without broadband Internet to access modern, secure and updated FOSS desktop solutions. Some of these may include

  • Various flavours of Linux (including Ubuntu and variants)
  • Burkeley Software Distribution (BSD)

OPL also has a great collection of book titles on open source software and provides access to the the Internet through their Public Access Computers as well as providing Wireless Access

Habitat for Humanity National Capital Region

Habitat for Humanity NCR is working with C4C to place refurbished computers into households of their current and past building projects.

Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO)

Immigrant Women Services Ottawa and C4C are working together to get refurbished computers into the households of graduates from their mentoring programs which were originally developed with help from iSisters Technology Mentoring.  This will help ensure graduates maintain access to computers to maintain and further develop their new technology skills.
